{"id":3086,"date":"2010-10-20T03:55:22","date_gmt":"2010-10-20T07:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/2010\/10\/autumn\/"},"modified":"2010-10-20T03:55:22","modified_gmt":"2010-10-20T07:55:22","slug":"autumn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/2010\/10\/autumn\/","title":{"rendered":"Autumn"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"tpad-img-center\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/6a01156f6c1fc1970b0133f534ef73970b-800wi\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"_MG_5346\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a01156f6c1fc1970b0133f534ef73970b\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/6a01156f6c1fc1970b0133f534ef73970b-500wi.jpg\" title=\"_MG_5346\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon photographing the fall foliage with Jo-Ann and Anthony Campagiorni on Sunday.&#0160; They were kind enough to bid on an outing with me in order to raise funds for St. Luke&#39;s Cornwall Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>We had a perfect day &#8211; sunny, warm and the foliage at or close to peak color.&#0160; We talked about a lot of photographic concepts and I had decided prior to our meeting that I wanted to leave them with a few &quot;take-home points.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>First one: &quot;what are you trying to say?&quot;&#0160; The challenge of photography, and really of any creative endeavor, is to distill a personal experience into an evocative (or provocative) final product using the medium you&#39;ve chosen.&#0160; Will the image you&#39;ve framed in your viewfinder deliver that experience to the viewer?&#0160; <\/p>\n<p>Second tip: for the optimal color, photograph the fall foliage with the light behind the leaves in order to achieve a glowing backlight effect.<\/p>\n<p>And, finally, pay close attention to the edges and corners of the frame.&#0160; This is where I find it very helpful to use a tripod &#8211; it&#39;s easier to examine closely how I&#39;ve framed an image and then make subtle but telling adjustments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#0160; &#0160; I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon photographing the fall foliage with Jo-Ann and Anthony Campagiorni on Sunday.&#0160; They were kind enough to bid on an outing with me in order to raise funds for St. Luke&#39;s Cornwall Hospital.
