{"id":3058,"date":"2011-02-20T04:15:12","date_gmt":"2011-02-20T09:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/2011\/02\/surfaces\/"},"modified":"2011-02-20T04:15:12","modified_gmt":"2011-02-20T09:15:12","slug":"surfaces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mohonkimages.com\/journal\/2011\/02\/surfaces\/","title":{"rendered":"Surfaces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I read about an exhibit that has just opened at the Dorsky Museum on the campus of SUNY New Paltz and the comments the artist made struck a chord:<\/p>\n<p>Marco Maggi said that he, for one, does not believe nor will his audience believe that <em>\u201cart is only about ideas &#8212; that there is some hidden, complex idea that is so intellectual that few can understand it. No, not at all.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe main issue in this show is surfaces. Our surfaces, how superficial they are.
