"The poetry of earth is ceasing never" Keats |
News, Workshops & EventsGALLERY NEWS We've been woefully remiss in keeping the website and blog current, and for those of you who have stopped by to see what's new, please accept our apologies. We optimistically believed that our web re-design would be completed quite some time ago and so did not keep up with the current site, but, like all renovation projects, it has taken on a life of it's own. So, going forward, we'll try to be better about keeping up. I'm also going to eat better, exercise more and drink less -- we'll keep you posted... In the meantime, we invite you to stop by the gallery to see our most recent large installation: "Verkeerderkill Falls, Detail." It's a four-panel polyptych of one single image printed with pigmented ink on canvas. Each panel measures 40" x 60" so the overall size of the polyptych is ten feet wide by seven feet high. We chose this image for for two reasons: the large size further abstracted the image, and the perspective of the piece hanging on the back wall of the gallery mimics the perspective from which the photo was captured, making for a very dramatic presentation. In other news, this past year, we've partnered with other art venues in New Paltz to form our own "Art Loop" that we're encouraging people to visit every third Saturday from 2pm and 5pm for refreshments, openings and other related events. (though 3rd Saturday during Dec. and Jan. will be fairly quiet) See the website New Paltz Arts for more information.
Finally, we're working once again with Peter Brown at SUNY, to select a panoramic image from our portfolio to replace "Spring Orchard, Skytop" now on display in the lobby of the Humanities Building on the campus of SUNY/New Paltz, adjacent to the Faculty Tower. The new polyptych will be printed like the current one using pigmented ink on five 40" x 56" canvas panels with the final work measuring almost 17 feet wide. We wrote earlier that our goal in creating this piece was that each panel, although part of a larger scene, could stand on its own as a work of art and that has been one of the challenges in selecting an image. We'll let you know when the finished piece is installed. Jordan Gallery 845-255-6800. |
